Hi guys
As most people are probably aware, there are problems with Hikari supplies at the moment. My frontosa was really taken with the carnivore pellets and as yet i haven't found a good replacement. He's grudgingly taking a few catfish pellets but if anyone out there has found a good alternative i'd be very grateful to know what.
Thanks in advance
glo

I know what you mean glolite - my fish love them - especially my killish !
But yes, you should try buying them online. Some suppliers still have stock. Though my LFS only had one delivery in the past 9 months - so I bought a huge bag :p
Sorry can't recommend alternative though :/

My fronts like those carnivore sinkers too, and I understand how you have a hard time finding an alternative, they're quite picky as they won't come up to feed and most cichid pellets float. My fronts have been eating "Tetra Color Bits" forever as a staple, they love them, even though they're so tiny! They don't care though, they just grab em by the mouthfuls. They're pricey, but they might work!

According to our supplier (at work)
the problems with Hikari and the EU have
been sorted now and stocks should be back very soon.

They advised us to place an order monday for delivery thursday

What about a more natural alternative? Its a rare fish that will turn its nose up at a nice juicy mussel or a whitebait.

Thanks for all your help everyone and it's nice to hear Hikari's soon to be back on the shelves. I heard the shortage problem was due to some silly 'red tape' thing but I'm not sure. And believe it or not my picky frontosa even turned his nose up at a lump of fresh trout!!! He does eat cooked chicken though.

what was the problem with hikari?

According to the numpties in Brussels
most of the ingredients that Hikari used were not EU "approved"
and their products were therfore illegal within the EU.

Tosh and utter balderdash!
