should i just do a water change?
i only have 1 fish in my 10g tank and i havent found the need to do a water change until now, im scared i will do it wrong!

so i just take the water out, get tap water in my bucket and add my dechlorinator, then put it in the tank..

Hi, what are the readings for Ammonia, NitrItes and NitrAtes if you have them?

Yes you need to do a minimum of a 25% water change to get the NitrItes down to at least 0.25ppm for the safety of your fish.

When you have taken the water out, put the new water plus the required amount of Declorinator into the bucket, if you can try to get the water about the same temp as the water in the tank, and add slowly back into the tank. Then do another water test about hour later and see if the levels have gone down, if not you may need to do more water changes.

Take your time and dont rush it :D
