It could be a mini spike after a mixture of cleaning the filter and substrate change, for now large w/c's are the way to go,test daily and do w/c has necessary, keep both the ammonia & nitrite at zero if you can,or it'll just keep building and you'll start to lose fish.
Feed very minimum, this will help to keep it down.- If you suspect someone else is feeding them, tell them to stop.Perhaps you can feed them when you come home from work?
but adamantley said no
thanks aginhave changed the white poly pad in the built in juwel , am half way through water change will keep goin until back to normal ad cut back on the food ! hope the substrate ok looks realy good , maybe should try walking before running with planted tankDid you change over any of the media when you cleaned your filter?
if you changed your substrate this could also have caused the spikes.
Keith.
The good thing frankie is that you have a good idea of the cause now. Imo after a few large water changes you should be back on track within several days.

A water change would be a good idea "very little ammonia" is more harmfull than none.well have just got back from work , and tested my water everything is back to normal , no nitrate very little amonia , would you reccomend another water change as overnight everting has stabilized !!!!![]()
