Hi there!
Recently I hatched out 24 spotted blue eye (pseudomugil gertrudae) fry. At first, I kept them in 15x10cm tubs with 3cm deep water (2 tubs with 12 fry in each). Everything seemed to be going fine and the final egg hatched so I decided to move them all into a larger container. This new one is 29x23cm and the water is at 4cm deep, and this housed all 24. A few days in I started to lose fry. I wasn't sure if this was because they weren't able to find food so I lowered the water level a bit and added a bit more food (15ml of infusoria every morning and evening as opposed to 10ml). Overall, I am now down to just 13 fry, and one isn't looking so good this morning. I am doing small water changes with aged tap water every morning to ensure water quality is good. Is losing this amount of fry normal? Should I continue as I am or change something?

Thank you!

Try adding food more often, like 3-4 times a day or more.

Are you testing the water?

I would suspect poor water quality is more likely to blame than lack of food, although it's hard to be sure.

Adding some live plants would help tremendously, with both potential issues.

Thank you for your replies!

I tried giving them a few drops of algae tablets dissolved in water yesterday and they really seemed to like that as they were all around the place I dropped it in so hopefully a few drops of that a day will solve any issues with getting food.

I've just tested the water and ammonia came out as nothing.
I already have six pieces of cabomba in there so hopefully they're helping out a bit. Should I add a little more?
