Tank size, male to female ratio, tank mates, water perimeters, how often you do water changes, etc. If they are happy and healthy, mine have lived up to 5 years!

Have managed to successfully keep them for over 3 years and I got some of them as adults in the first place. As Applesnailsgirl touched upon, conditions and habitat do indeed count for a lot for longevity and for fish to thrive
