Joined this happy band yesterday. Seems like a nice, friendly place.
Me: ex-zoologist, ex-jeweller, now happily retired, living on the fringe of Windsor Great Park. Fellow of the Zoological Society of London – kept/cared for most types of creature over the years, recently returned to fish keeping after an absence of far too long.
Looking forward to getting to know you all...

Hi, Shelagh, and thanks for the welcome. You can very quickly work out how happy you will be on any forum, and I echo your thoughts on the people here. I'm still lurking, but have been impressed by how friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful everyone seems to be.

***If you can love a guppy, you can even love people***

(Be warned, I have a very odd sense of humour..!)

Hey there; welcome to TFF! :D Yes, it's really nice here.
Have fun posting!

G'day Mate, or Miss :hi:

Your going to enjoy being here, its alot of fun :band:

I bet you have some interesting stories to tell!! Whats your favourite animal, you can have a few

Hi, guys..! Nice to be here..

Trublu, too much to pick a best one..! Being 'mum' to a baby chimp [24/7] for six months was perhaps the most rewarding/exhausting experience of my life; swimming with dolphins is hard to beat; to let a young gorilla roll you over is wonderful; and to survive a young tiger only 'pretending' to chew your arm off is a great relief..!
For me, nothing has been more emotional than being kissed full on the lips by an Orang-outang – I still cry when I think about that...!

Wow,

lots of amazing experiences, just a question tho, How do you think that you will find retiring in London after all that youve done, not knocking London but its not a hot spot of "wild life" activity (of the animal kingdom) but if family is around you ,that I can understand. just curious thats all.

I swam with sharks once, didnt realize till it was about 30ft away!! wet myself.

I love this beautiful creation we live in,but get sad sometimes to see what we humans do to it and its inhabitants.

Cheers

Hi, Trublu.
My bit of Windsor Great Park is 25 miles from Central London, and about as rural as you can find! We get the odd Queen wandering around the lake, late at night, but other than that, it's fairly quiet... We have more rare beetles, bats, owls (and people who shouldn't even be there after dark - like me) than you can shake a stick at..!
But I have lived here for over 50 years, so they tend to be a bit understanding [providing that my dog does not rough up another corgi - yet again..!]

I don't mind sharks, crocodiles, huge snakes, lions, tigers, or rampaging elephants – but any spider with a leg-span greater than half-an-inch, and I will be away on me toes faster than you can believe!

Go figure..! Even the bravest zoologist has a point beyond which he is not willing to go..!

Hello again,

Spiders!!   cant stand them, rather be with that shark again. thats one thing I like about the UK is a lack of spiders.just getting the creeps thinking about them.

:)
