Hi New To This But Few Questions :)

Hi i am new to all this so you will have to bear with me if i sound a bit stupid lol

I currently have a small tank with 6 danios , 2 plattys and a clown loach which i was planning on keeping but the store o bought the fish from didnt tell me the clown loach could grow upto 10 inches :0 i was going to send it back but couldnt bring myself to as i have become attached now hes lovely lol so went out and bought a bigger tank yesterday and just wanted some advice on whther to go for sand , gravel , fine gravel ? With this combination of fish . Also when the new water is ready would it be better to add the danios and plattys first as i have read loaches are sensitive to new water conditionds but then woudnt it get lonely and stressed in the small tank by itself ? My new tank is 130 litres any info would be a massive help !

I really hate to burst your bubble, but even the 130 litre tank is going to be too small for the clown loach and it's not going to be too long before he outgrows this one too. Clown loaches need MASSIVE tanks and they need to be kept in groups, preferably of at least 5 or 6.

As much as i want to keep it i think he will have to go back they are beautiful fish though if only i had the space for a 50 gallon tank lol

Unfortunately yes the clown loach would be better to go back. Maybe one day you'll some extra room then you can go for the big tank and get a nice shoal of them.

Any suggestions on one similar i could keep in a 130 litre tank ? I would ask the shop for advice but they obdviously dont know what they are talking about if they are telling me its fine to keep a lone loach in a 50l tank a bit worrying really !

Have a look at zebra loaches? They're not quite as striking as the clowns, but are a very attractive fish, and at only three inches or so, fully grown, they'd be a nice size for your tank. As with most loaches, they are social and need to be in a small group (five or six is enough).

I'd go with sand; anything that has barbels appreciates a sand substrate to dig around in

what you need is about 10 cories (corydoras) they come in some lovely colours and they behave in a similar way to clown loaches. they are so so cute

I'd second that. They are incredibly cute and are very socialable. They are non agressive too and will be happy with most community fish. Remember they also need to be in a group but of the same species of cory.
