Hi Im New To This And Could Do With Some Advice On Fin Rot

Ive just set up a tropical tank and put fish in for the first time a week ago 2 gourami and 1 male fighter they all seem ok but one of the gourami seemed to have a white mark on the top fin and now it looks as if a piece has come away.I read some leaflets that suggeted fin rot but im not sure wot do do now. Ive checked the water and there doesnt seem to be a problem there. Im worried about it spreading to the other 2 fish and im now unsure weather to put any more fish in. If anyone could give me some advice i would be very grateful

Size of tank in gallons or litres.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Any fish nipping at his fins.
Whitness to the end of the fins can be bad water quality, to bacterial finrot.

Could also just be fin damage from fighting - gouramis and fighters can really squabble! Not a recommended mix.

It's not unusual for people who set up a new aquarium to have similar problems. I'll move your thread over to our "Your New Freshwater Tank" section where the members will help you solve them. If you don't understand what they are asking for with the stats on ammonia, etc., just ask and it will be explained to you.
