Hey there everyone. New to this forum and I was hoping I could maybe get some help with my poorly make red jewel. He is one of a breeding pair. He has been showing some white patches and losing colour for about 3 months now but it usually only lasts a few days before he's back to his normal colour and then comes back a few weeks later but always seems well side from the colour. But this time it's been going on about 2 weeks and he seems very lethargic and off his food. The rest of the tank seems fine not displaying any symptoms. I've tried all the usual treatments , anti internal, anti fungal, salt, water changes all to no avail. Have included photos. If any one has any ideas please let me know. Thanks in advance

The trouble with a lot of cichlid pairs is they have a love hate relationship and courtship can get a little rough. If you can remove him to a seperate tank and use an antibacterial medication.

Well tried this and he seems no better :( if anything his white patches and colour loss seem worse.... don't know what to do :( don't even think he's eaten in 2 weeks and spends his whole time hiding in the cave,, every few days I move the cave just to check he hadn't died in there

Bless Him.
Sounds like columnaris.
There a medication by JBL called Furanol 2 which is a better medication for columnaris. But the medication will wipe the good bacteria out in your filter.
Can you isolate him.
Follow star4 advice.
