hi everyone im new to all this so forgive me if i ever ask any stupid questions! i have a record 70 tank set up which after about too weeks of a water chang algae takes over, ive never do a ph test whats that all about? please advise.

Hi Kenny and welcome to the startup forum!

I've found this to be a really nice place to learn about the hobby of keeping an aquarium. There are many very experienced members here who can answer all sorts of interesting questions!

Permit me to ask a few of you! How much water does the Record 70 model hold? (it may be 70 litres but I'm in USA and not sure) I'm sure the members will be interested in a number of these things: Are there any fish in there? Any plants? Any bogwood/driftwood? Are you familiar with the term "cycling" and if so, do you know whether you cycled the filter via "Fishless Cycling" or via "Fish-In Cycling?"

You say you're not familiar with pH. Do you have any other tests you've performed on your tank? Are there any bottled chemicals or substances you've bought and used on your water or tank? All these various answers will be good information for the other members who come along to talk with you.
