well, my new house is getting rebuilt so before everything is completed i would like 2 coloums of fish tanks inbetween my partitioned wall which seperates the passage way and my front living room. the fish tank will be say depth : 8inches, height : 7 ft, width : 40inches.

so i need a fish tank made out of plastic and fishes that are compatible with that sort of design ?

i have a rough design of where the fishes will go (done on paint) .

You will need tanks custom made out of acrylic, which isn't going to be cheap. Also where is the filtration going to go? and what kinda fish interest you? the dimensions are going to make it hard to stock, you are going to be limited to smaller fish.

Nice inovative idea, but have you made allowances for maintenance.

will my local Aquarium make custom sized acrylic fish tanks?

I don't know where you live, but you will probably have to find a company that makes custom tanks. They aren't that common, so the tanks will probably have to be shipped to you. And also as BigC said, how are you going to access the tanks to feed the fish and clean them?

I also want to point out that the column shape is going to make the tank much harder to clean and will most likely reduce the amount of fish the tank can hold, compared to a shorter and longer tank. I crunched the numbers and each tank will hold about 100-110 gallons and weigh over 1000lbs. The small surface area is going to reduce the amount of oxygen in the water, which equals less fish. You also are going to have to find some way to reach the bottom of the tank to clean the substrate.

As for stocking the column tanks, you are limited IMO to fish that are less than 4" when fully grown. You could go for some platies, some schools of small dainos, and some schools of rasboras. What ever you plan to stock the tank with, you will have to cycle them first, which will take 4-6 weeks. Below are links for cycling and other things you should know
