1. I'm currently using a 20-40 aquatech filter on my 20gal tank, and am recently experiencing problems with the flow. Supposedly it goes 180gph but it seems much less than that now. Because I have a few fish in there the filter cartridge often becomes filthy and slows down the water output quite a lot... I have to rinse the cartridge once a week to maintain a steady flow and not have the water come out of the over flow area. Last time a changed the cartridge completely 1 gourmais and guppy died, so is there a way i can keep the water flow high without changing the cartridge (I've tried feeding less, but the zebra danios always steal the food)

2.Do those magnet scrapers actually work?

hi dont change the cartridge just rinse it in some tank water

Agree with above don't change cartridge just rinse with tank water. Do u have sand as substrate? maybe the impeller is clogged with sand or something, I clean mine every month or two.

Impellers get clogged easily with all sorts of gunge. I check mine weekly. Have you got floss in there? That might catch most of the debris and stop it getting to the cartridge and impeller.

ya no matter how much i rinse the filter cartridge it keeps on overflowing in the filter, the overflow splashes make my light mixture covered in particle sediment. I'm not sure how to fix this, maybe i should try rinsing the bio filter?
