Heroes

Ahhhh mmmm'kay!

Arfie, set aside several days, line up the popcorn & coke, get some match-sticks and start watching!

Wish I'd watched it from the start. Don't like to watch episodes on my computer.
Ah well. No point in watching it now.

did anyone notice the registration number of Hiros dads car???
What's so special about it??

Arfie, just watch it! You'll love it no doubt!!
what makes it so special is
A Hiros father is played by George Takai who played Sulu in the original Star Trek
the registration, as arfie has pointed out, is the registration of the Enterprise from that show.
it is a nice nod to start trek from the producers of Heros.

Actually if you look hard enough in many scifi shows you will find nods to other great pieces of science fiction
star trek TNG often had the USS Buck Bonzai listed as one of the federations ships in on screen graphs which was a nod to the cult film
the adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai.
Data also mentioned a flux capacitor in one episode which is a nod to back to the future.

if you like "nods" to sci fi shows, Stargate sg1 must have been up there. and it constantly paid homage to star trek.
i guess we forget just how small the industry really is. often with casts pulled from several popular shows, i would think mutual back patting would be the norm.

don't forget the nod(s) to MacGyver too which was played by Richard Dean Anderson
who as we all know plays Jack O'neil in sg1.

I've seen an out-take of the episode where Jack and Sam are trapped in the Antartic
and Sam says 'thats it, seven years of being MacGyver that is all you can come up with, chipping the ice with a knife!'
to which Jack bursts out laughing.
