My tank finished cycling last week, and I've now stocked it. It's completely different from what I originally planned (But then again, whose isn't? ;) ) I was originally aiming at a S. American community tank, but I ended up with an Asian one...

The tank is an Aquatlantis Evasion, with 150 litres capacity, filtered by an Eheim 2213 external filter. Substrate is 5cm of Roman inert silicate gravel mixed with Laterite for the plants, topped with 10 cm of sand, which seems to work a treat for the plants- mainly Elodea, with Cryptocorines, Hygrophilia and a Brazillian Pennywort and Acorus thrown in for good measure.
In the tank I have..
8 x Tiger Barbs (Barbus Tetrazona)
4 x Zebra Loaches (Botia Striata)
2 x Panda Loaches (Scientific name unknown at the moment)
2 x Dwarf Gouramis (Colisa Lalia)

The Panda Loaches were bought as we were looking for an algae-loving suckermouth of a modest size, such as a Bristlenose, but we spotted these and fell in love instantly. Here's a close-up of one...

The guy at the LFS told me these fish grow to about 12cm in size, but so far I've been able to find out nothing about them- even Loaches.com has nothing! If anyone has any info about these fish, such as scientific name, habitat, etc, I'd be eternally grateful. Both Pandas are very sociable fish, and love algae wafers, bottom-feeding tablets and bloodworm- and they keep the glass clean a treat! :good:

they are panda garra's, recently introduced to the trade. There are onyl about 6 kinds and they are extreemly rare, and cost about $30+ a piece.

These guys need colder water and a river set up, such as hillstream loaches do. I'd try to set your temp a low as your other tropical fish can take.

Many, many thanks for your help! :D I've now been able to look them up- a rare catch, indeed. Thanks for the info on their upkeep- will be re-setting the heaters accordingly. :good: From the online pics I've found, their anal, caudal and dorsal fins will develop pink patches as they mature and acclimatise- pretty fish indeed!
