me and my son have just brought an aquarium, it has everything built in ie: heater, pump and also the tank comes with one big catfish. my question is do catfish live in cold water or can we turn the tank into a tropical tank without killing the poor little thing.

Welcome to the forum Michael.

A lot depends a lot on which catfish. There are some that like water around room temperature and others that prefer their water at more tropical temperatures.

On average.... Catfish are extremely flexible as far as temperatures are concerned, but as in everything else... you do get the exceptions.... can you tell us exactly what type of catfish you have... (allthough,... if this tank already has a built in heater.....it should be tropical already) what's your water temperature??
