Hi,

I don't post here much but after searching this forum trying to look for the problem, i couldn't find an answer at all.

My beta seems to just be sitting at the top of his tank, fairly lifeless most of the time. If I go up to see if he's alive he'll swim away, but not very far and then he'll go back to just floating at the top. He is about 2 years old and I've never had anything like this happen before... usually he is full of life swimming around the tank, flaring up etc, but he hasn't been doing any of that for the last 4-5 days...

Also, if he does try and swim down, he just floats straight back up to the top, but I'm pretty sure it's not intentional...?

He was on beta food flakes for about a month, but then when he started acting like this I changed back to the small pellets he was on before. I tried fasting him for 2 days (after reading another thread) to see if he was constipated or anything like that but no improvement from that, I changed 50-60% of his water in case it was dirty and causing the problem but no improvement from that either...

Any ideas?!

Is there any spots or sores on his body? Are his gills inflamed? Are his fins tightly clasped around his body? Is his belly bloated? Any raised scales? If he doesn't have any of this, and he's looking healthy and eating like a pig...then I wouldn't know. Do you have a filter?

Hi,

He looks as healthy as he always did, and when I chuck food in he goes straight over and eats it all...

And yes I have a filter... I dunno what's going on!

Hmm doesn't sound like old age Minni.

It sounds like Swimbladder.
Try getting Interpet 13 Swimbladder treatment.

Also before that give him some frozen pee thats been cooked and deshelled
