hi peeps,

im a newbie to the forum and this may seem a bit of a daft question but.................

i bought a peice of log (wood) for my tank and im having problems getting it to sit a t the bottom and not float,
how long before it will sit naturaly on the gravel and are there any ways to spead the process up,

thanks,

lee

have you already soaked the wood what you want to do is soak it in hot water for a few day keep replacing the water this removes any brown colour the log will leave and eventually the log will get waterlogged and sink :) hope this helps if you have alreayd done this then try and anker it down

Have you soaked this piece of wood as it sounds like you havnt or havnt soaked it for long enough.

The wood will sink eventually but the time scale will depend ont he size of the wood.

The wood needs to soak into the wood and this will inturn sink it

Hmmm...I really have no idea. Depending on the type of wood and density of it, it could take quite a while. Can you lay a larger rock on top of it? Perhaps someone else has better info and ideas. You might notice a fair amount of tannin leach from it for many months to come, so don't be surprised. Some people like the effect. Some people try to boil it away, but how effective that is...
