The last couple of days ive been keeping an eye on my female.

She normally looks like this

But noticed that her top fin hasn't been raised and is tucked against her body and the bottom fins the same. Came home today to find the male chasing her like mad around the tank!

For now ive separated him in the tank putting him a a separating net so he cant chase her or pick on any fish! Since if done this her fins are back out.

What can i do though as im worried i release him in x amount of days and it goes back to how it was. Ive spoken to my friend in the local fish shop that said he will exchange the female for another female. Will this solve the issue?

exchanging won't make things any better. Your female is just getting harassed. Introducing a different one after taking one out could possibly make things worse.

Are these two inside of that really small tank in your other posts? That could be the issue, there isn't enough space or hiding spots for the female to get away to.

There in the 64L tank not the 36L tank.

Ive moved some plants around to make more of a hiding place. Ill look at releasing him out of the net and see how we get on.

Is there chances of him killing her?

Yes there is every chance. Might not be through out and out violence, but through stress.

Hiding places and loads of plants to break the lines of sight. Put the male in the smaller tank if you can for a week or two and let the female claim the tank as hers then add him back in.

Will he be ok in the other tank with 9 Ember Tetra and 6 Pygmy Corys?

My fear is they might look like food to him.

Yes, he should be. Tae him out, and rearrange the decorations then put him back.

you might have a valid concern there, Embers are indeed snack size. Really don't know if it would be an issue or not, but has the potential to be risky.

the corys should be fine however.

Think its a game of remove all fish change around and put back in.

Also going to check my stand as the water level isnt level the left gets to the top of the tank before the right!

Hello,

I am no expert but when I first got my Gold Rams the male would chase the female round all the time, I was advised to add a second female so the agression could be spread out between the two females.

So I purchased a second female Ram and a week later one of the females spawned, I removed the other female and all was good (till the male died about 2-3 weeks ago) I purchased a new male and have eggs in the tank again.

I think it is just hit and miss weather the fish pair up or not and it sounds like the two you have dont get along.

So a bit like my livebears where you have 2 female per male?

I dont think my tank would have room for a 3rd as the tank is only 64L.

It already houses

2x GBR
3x Albino Corys (Will be moving to another tank next week)
6x Panda Corys
4x Platy (Will be moving to another tank next week)
4x Cardinal Tetra (Will be moving to another tank next week)
1x Goldring loach

I plan to add 6 Rosbora's once the others have been removed
