Hi all, this isn't a tropical fish it's my goldfish, but she means so much to me, i don't wnat to loose her, shes a big oranda, and recently i've lost 2 goldfish in the tank she was in, both became lazy then couldnt swim, then died and the sames happeneing with her, just done a massive water change and i now have 3 fish in the 125l tank.
results are all good, the fish is lying on her side, breathing slowly, and her fins are deteriarating and breaking apart, please help, what treatment? i have myxazin? or should i use swimming bladder?
she has slight pineconing, and she got sucked near the filter pipe, and now some of her body where she got sucked in has gone in? Also, she can't swim and is just floating!
please help, thankyou! x

The tank was overstocked.

What type were the other two goldfish.

Fancy goldfish 15 gallons for the first one. 10 gallon for every other one added.
Common goldfish 20 gallon for the first one. 15 gallons for every other one added.

Goldfish are massive waste producers so need double filteration.

What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Once scales start to stick out last stage or dropsy, organ failure.

All you can do is try a bacterial med.
Epson salt baths to help draw the fluids out.

Ammonia-0
nitrate-5
nitrite-0
ph-7.2

I realize i overstocked the tank :/ stupid mistake!
Should i run a course of myxazin?
Also, the fish is just lying on the water surface, should i not seperate her? Or just leave her?
I have 3 filters running, 2 external and an internal and an air stone.
The other fish are also 2 orandas.
All fancy goldfish

For three fancy goldfish you need a least a 40 gallon.
Plus an 80 gallon filter.

Anti internal bacteria med by interpet would of been my first choice.
But need to add a med fast. So add the myxazin.
Also you will need epson salts, it will draw the fluids out.
Just add it to the tank if only the goldfish is in the tank.

Be warned though fish rarely make it once scales stick out.
So it touch and go if the fish makes it.

Thanks Wilder :)
Added the med, and some epsom salt!
I hope the other fish don't bother the sick fish, i was thinking of putting the sick fish in a breeding trap, so she has a smaller space, and won't be disturbed, i'm hoping she'll pull through.
I'm off to the pet store tonight, for plants for another tank so if I see anything that might help the sick fish, I shall buy it!
If you have anything else I could/should add or buy to help the fish, let me know! x

Get your water tested at the lfs, and ask them to write the readings down for you.

There not much else you can do now i'm afraid.
You added a bacterial med, and epson salts.

Let me know how the fish gets on if you don't mind.
Good Luck.

Theres no pineconing, must of just been the angle i looked at the fish, no pineconing. The fish is in a breeding trap, and is still upside down, i fed pea last night and shes know pooing.
I think it's swimming bladder, so i did a big water change this morning and added that, don't know what else i can do really.
I will test the water myself, with my new mini master nutrafin test kit that i got recently :)

Swim bladder med only works
if it's a bacterial infection of the swim bladder.

Causes of swim bladder are bad water quality, poor diet, to many dried foods, bacterial, internal parsites, injury, birth defect, unstable temp.

Not sounding good if the fish is on it back.
Let me know how she gets on if you don't mind.

Doesnt seem to be getting any better :( still constipated and lying on side, i'm so scared incase when i wake up tomorrow...

There nothing more you can do i'm afraid.
Any red streaking on the body or fins.
Any bleeding beneath the skin.
