Help With My Pregnant Guppy

hey,

I have 2 pregnant guupies but only one is somewhere near having any fry,
i have bought a marina breeding trap you can put the female in one compartment to have the babies then they fry can swim to saftey in another part of the breeder trap so that the fry dont get eaten by the mother i was wondering when to put the female into the breeder trap cause its looking real fat and the gravid spot is really dark but nothing has happened and its been looking like that for about 1 week now so im getting pretty anxious.
so any help would be apreciates !!

I'd put her in now!

Better too soon than too late. Make sure your tank is full so the water level isn't low... I've had problems with that where the water was so low, the guppy got stressed and many of her fry died. Put a drop of stress coat in too to calm her down. Sometimes the transition can be very hard on her.

i have a little chest in my tank that is horrible looking.My guppys always give birth inside it and then the fry stay there till i fish them out :lol:

it sounds untrue but really does happen! I then transfer them into my breeder.I presume some of them do get eaten but i always have plenty of fry and its also a busy community tank with loads of different species in it.The fry survive i think cos the recess in which they hide cant be accessed by any other fish as its to small to fit through

the problem is though that she looks a bit pregnant and she has the markings that the females get when the pregnant around her gills and stuff but her graid spot isnt to dark. and she looks bigger than normal and she does all the you know stting at the bottom of the tank, fighting other fish away thing but nothing ever seems to happen im wondering if she had her fry when i was asleep or something and then ate and i never knew. and also i dont want to hae her in the breeder too long. and also i have a marina multi-breeder and it came with no instuctions so i dont know how to set it up i figured thta it can just float in the tank but then it sinks to the bottom so i dont know how to feed the fish in the breeder when ther'ye in the breeder dont worry i havent put any fish in there yet. so if anyone has ever used one of those help would be appreciated.

if its the marina breeder im thinking of,it has little rubber suckers that stick to the glass of any size tank and you should feed little amounts of food but often as possible,i.e 4-6 times a day.If there is a problem feeding them that many times dont worry to much i give mine a little bit more food than normal in the mornings cos im at work all day,then i give them the same amount of food again when i come in at night then go back to my normal feeding procedure.O and a little Bloodworm as a treat.Ive raised Neon tets,Corys(almost) and Loads of Guppy fry this way! :good:

ok thanks, the one i got doesnt hae plastic sucky things on the back so im wonering whether its missing them, ok thanks for the info i was wondering how much a pet store would buy the guppies for each??

You wont get much for them(if anything at all) you will prob end up giving most of them away,by the time you find people or shops that want any,you will prob have even more

thats what i was like,ive since had 3 more batches of fry and ended up giving them away to family or friends

ok thanks for the tips, pretty soon im looking at getting some different fish to put in with them what would you suggest? i dont really want tetras something a bit "Different" i dunno theres some pretty cool fish at my local pet shop at the moment but i didnt really llok into what they are. here are some pics i took so i was wondering whether you could tell me how long till they will drop??

from the second pic ican tell u that ur fish i going to give birth in one or two days (if they didnt already beacose my reply is late i had the same shap of the belly and it gave birth in 24 hours

im excited at the moment, i think my guppy is giving bith now cause ive noticed something sticking out from near the anal fin i dont know if this means anything but it doesnt seem to be as obvious on my other fish (who is also a femle) any help would be appreciated
