Help With Filter Question

Hi all,

I have just been offered a AquaManta EFX 600 External Filter for a good price.

Would this filter be to big to use on my 60ltr tank? I am also just about to start putting some plants in my tank and have a Tetratec ex600 at the moment which has a lower turn over rate.

Also if this filter is ok to use what would be the best way to set it up? ie. use the media from my old filter to seed or would I have to fish in cycle my new filter from scrach

seems a bit over the top for a 60ltr tank. i'd aim for something with 600-800lph. Whats the tetratec flow rate? If there is enough flow rate from the filter (approximately x10) then you may want to just get a powerhead instead.


When I changed over from my internal filter to my external, I just stuck all the old media in the new filter with the new media too, primed it and its been doing a great job, no waterchanges were necessary (other than the usual maintenance). Try and match the media up though.

At 2200 lph, I would avoid it for a 60 litre tank. A recirculation rate of 37x, it is just too much flow for most fish.
