My sister got given a biorb tank for her kids which they have a couple on mountain minnows in. I don't know anything about biorbs apart from they are stupid but she phoned me tonight about her filter.
She noticed there is no bubbles in the tube tonight.
She emptied the tank and kept half the water and cleaned the sponge part of the filter in the water she threw away.
With there being no bubble does that mean the filter is broken.
She doesnt have a test kit and refuses to get one (thinks shes an expert cause she kept fish years ago) but the next time we are there I will take my kit and test her water.
Ive told her to do a 20% water change daily until I can get there.
Does anyone know if no bubbles means her filter is broken
Thanks

Bubbles are produced by the air line that runs into the biorb at the base. Tell her to check the air stone its probably nice a nd brown and clogged up with crap. It will need replacing to get a nice airflow going again.

Thanks Ill tell her that

I spoke to her last night and told her about the airstone. Her answer was what airstone?
Her ex hubby had gave her the biorb for the kids and it didn't have an airstne with it.
She had another look and found a bit of gravel stuck in the tubing. She's removed that and asked if I can take an airstone with me when we visit.
Why do older sisters never listen, we argued when she set it up cause she didn't do a fishless cycle and lost all the fish she had bought.
She now has a goldfish in it which I have told her will get too big for it but she knows better arggggggggggggggggg
