so today when i woke up and went to feed my fish my small common plec was dead, and my german blue rams have white specs all over them. i dont know whats wrong or what happened as they all looked fine yesterday.
specs are:
ph - 7.6
ammonia - 0
nitrate - 5
nitrite - 0

im going to do a water change and am currently heading off to the fish shop to see what they have to say. any help would be greatly appreciated.

note: i also have 6 green tiger barbs, 5 bloodfin tetras, and a red tailed shark. 2 of the younger barbs were a little paler(sp?) than usual but other than that they seem fine

thanks

without seeing exactly what you are seeing and knowing your exact set up i would guess that you have Ich. if i were you i would list all the facts of your set up aka water parameters, tank size, filtration, stocking etc in the tropical emergencies section and let the experts help. check out this link it lead to a topic on Ich and may be helpfull

p.s. i wouldn't take what your local lfs says seriously til you've checked it out here first.

just my opinion :D

my only guess is it could be white spot.
are the spots about the size of a pin (1mm). this is faily common and it can be caused by bad water quality, if u tested the quality of the water after a water change the resulty wont be accurate.
did your tank go through a big tempreature difference change, if so its ich although white spot and ich dramaticly increase the chances of a seconary infection. now to treating whitet spot (if it is that) a simple anti-bacterial/fungal/external paricites should do the trick, although remember to remove charcoal from the filter.
hope this helps shang hi
