Hi all,

Have been given this fish today, and have no idea what it is. My fiancé and I are relatively new to keeping tropicals, and so far have a tank with guppies, platys and tetras.

We have it in a tank on its own right now, as we did put it in with our platys but it started attacking them all so we quickly removed it & went out & got another tank. Now totalling 3 tanks in the house!

If anyone can help us identify this fine specimen and advise on suitable tank mates (if any) that would be great!

There we go!

Looks like a killifish to me.
Hmm or a peacock goby I'm not too up on those

a killifish definitaly. It should be no harm to any fish that cant fit in his mouth. but if you think it needs to be alone there great in species only tanks

your new tank was it cycled first its better to keep him with the mollys than go through a with fish cycle

guentheri killi fish, pretty expensive fish cost about 50$ on average and will get 2", they will do good in a community tank as long as you don't keep anything much smaller in there with them. if your tetras are neons then your going to have to get rid of them

i think shes keeping him seperate and the eggs are pretty cheap.

He's on his own at the moment. My tetras are red phantoms. I may see how he settles and try and introduce something around the same size. Such a fabulous looking fish, would be nice if we could find something to put with it.

Thank you everyone for your help!

Check the Killi section of the forum, there's plenty or resources there to help you with this fish.
It looks very pretty by the way. :)

Thank you all, I'll be sure to check out the killi section. Thanks!
