Hi,
Iā€™m quite new to the hobby and have a 520litre tank. Iā€™ve had my tank for about 6 months now and have different types of tropical fish in it. Over the past couple of days, Iā€™ve started to notice these round golden balls in the bottom of the tank. I think they might be the eggs of guppies or Corydoras but not to sure. Iā€™ve read online that the guppies could have miscarried and the babies could have been delivered with the egg sack but still unsure. Any help would be great - whether theyā€™re fertile or infertile, any information at all.

All the fish I have:
- dwarf gouramis
- neon tetra
- Corydoras
- ram
- guppies

Guppies are live bearers, so its definitly not theirs. Its a cory cat egg. Was it floating when you found it? Or was it on the bottom of the tank?

Thanks for replying, they were on the bottom of the tank

Ok, that's interesting because they are usually floating and are layed in bunches. Have you found any more?

I found a few of them together at the bottom of the tank and then some were laid alone in different places so whether they broke off the bunch and was taken by the current of the water... I donā€™t know.

Do they look organic or plastic. Those look to me like the little gel balls they use in so called slow release fertiliser capsules.
