I have just got my new tank and the guy has given me the fish along with it.

The only time they coulds be collected was tonight and now my LFS is shut till 9 am tomorrow

I have in my possesion now an 7" plec, a 8" Pangassius (sp?) Catfish, a 3" Clown loach and 3 angel fish 1" long

The tank I got is empty and I have nowhere to put these as he has put these into two fairly large bags.

The cat's bag is leaking a little and the two bags are in a polystyrene box.

The only other options I have to keep them in are 1. A 35 litre bucket (no lid) or a 40 litre cooler box.

I need somewhere for them till I can get them to the LFS first thing tomorrow

HELP!!!

To be honest this is a complete nightmare, do you have any tanks set up at all.

I have a small 2 ft tank set up but I'm worried this huge cat will eat everything in it.

I have no experience of handling fish that size either

No i want the water from the tank, test the bag water to see the difference in your water.

If i add the water thats in the two bags to the same amount of dechlorinated tap water, would that be suitable if I use the sterilised well rinsed cooler box ?

do you have a spare filter and heater? or atleast a heater.

main thing is keeping them warm.

if you have a filter and heater, great chuck em in the bath.

if not then do what ever you can to keep them warm. do you have more fish bags? if you do, bag up each of the fish separately and place them in the cooler you have. If you don't have suffient size bags for each of the fish do not bother, best you can do is put a bin liner inside the cooler and put them all in there and leave the lid on.

Get this thread going on chit chat you will get alot more replys.

If you choose to do the trash bag as a liner for the cooler, make sure it doesn't have any type of fragrance on it or odor neutralizer applied to the bag.

I have filled the new tank up with dechlorinated water with a heater and a filter running

I will put the bagged fish in that overnight (still in their own bags)

Will this be an acceptable solution?

TBH I have just unpacked all the gear I got with the fish and the bloke said he struggled to get the fish into bags and now i know why. The net he was using was tiny

It's not ideal, but there isn't alot to do, i would let them settle down turning light off so there in the dark, then they can sleep and forget where they are, finger crossed, good luck again.

sorry if i read it wrong,

but don't leave the fish in bags, release them in the tank so they can swim about in the fresh water.

if you can't bag them up in the morning just just a bucket

Ive released them into the tank after doing a water test which was ok

That is one massive fish!! (and from what I believe only going to get bigger)

I'll have to buy a bigger net in the morning
