Since 8.00 this morning, the council have been outside my living room window digging up the footpath with a pickaxe and pnuematic drill, which is about 6 inches under the window. I happen to keep my 1mtr tank on the window sill. The vibrations r so bad the cats have vacated to the shed, but the fish don't have this option, is there anything i can do to make sure they're not upset - i havent turned on the lights or fed them yet today. the council guy says they'll be there for the next 2 days

get a big thick blanket and put this over the tank, it should muffle things a bit.

it will probably be the vibrations that are stressing them out and theres not a lot you can do about that

hi
as suggested get something thick & wrap it around ( spare duvet??) it wont stop all of the vibrations but it may just help also being in the dark will help the fish be a little less stressed.

Go outside and offer them a cup of tea and a sandwich from a cafe near by (no builder can resist).. When they're gone, auction all their tools off to the highest bidder. You get some peace and quiet and some ££s. Everyone wins.

Smack the frill on there heads and ury them in the hole there digging.

I had same problem 2-3 weeks ago where they were repairing our pavements. Though my tank isnt near the window but other end of room the vibration still freaked them. I used some sheets of polystirein and placed them round the tank then wrapped a blanket round, also cushioned round the stand aswell to help limit vibrations. My fish were ok, but they were only there half a day.

Hope yours are ok.. Could you not move the tank maybe, Im assuming its not a big tank with you saying its on a windowsill??

well all the fish seem happy enough now the men hav gone. I thought about moving it, but its a 1 metre tank (a very big windowsill!). If i'd had any prior warning, I might have been able to get some help to move it, but they just appeared when i wasn't looking, so the quilthad 2 do!
Like the idea of auctioning their tools :shifty: but actually burying them is more practiacal, as they've gone away and left a nice big 2ft deep hole in the path - revenge for the fishies??
