I have a 29 gal fish tank that currently has 1 molly, 2 Mickey Mouse platies and a catfish. What other fish can I put in the tank that would get along with the fish I have?

What sort of catfish?

I've kept swordtails with MM platies, and they were best friends. My sister is keeping her mollies in with her guppies temporarily. They do well together. My current molly is a bit of a fin-nipper, though, and a few days ago she stressed my platy to death. I don't know if this is just my luck or not.

Neons or other tetras would be a good choice, perhaps. Maybe some barbs.

It is some kind of Cory catfish I'm sure what kind though. I was thinking about getting some black phantom tetras and a couple sparkling gouriamis.

If it is a Cory it needs to be in a group, ideally six, but minimum of three, they are happier in a group.  Can you research it and identify which it is?  What colouring does it have, or can you put up a picture?  I like Rasboras Espei's, they are fairly small, school well, and are a good alternative to Tetras which can be more sensitive.  Sparkling Gouramis are neat, although not had any myself, I understand they need a well planted tank ideally with broad leaves and floating plants.

NB: you may wish to put your location in your post as it helps others to assist you with advice, especially if the country is listed :)

It is a green Cory catfish and I have just added four more for him and 2 dwarf fire gourami into the tank. I might do the rasboras you mentioned would they be fine with the dwarf fire

IMHO, a minimum of 6.

In the wild, shoaling fish live in groups that are hundreds, often thousands, strong. It is generally accepted that a fish loses count of the number of fish in its group at 6, and therefore assumes it is in a normal "wild" group, and therefore is not constantly stressed.

Interesting point. It makes sense. +1 for you.

So is five ok or should I get one more so they are not stressed
If you can get one more you may as well, as per the-lock-man's post.
I was not aware that fish lost count at six - thanks for the info., Lock-Man,

I may do some research into this sometime, but aquarium maintenance is pending

I would guess your Rasboras would be OK with the Dwarf Gourami's as my Betta does not bother them and vice-versa.  You may struggle to get the Espei's though they are not as readily available as other Rasboras.
