hello all, after all the success i have had with breeding/keeping tropical fish i have decided to setup a tropical fish Buisness,

i will only be starting of small selling 6-8 different species, though all the fish i am getting will be easy to sell, and i will be advertising in the local news paper, i will mainly be selling cichlids, catfish

my prices will be around half price of what pet shops will sell them at!

can i please get some advice on starting up my fish Buisness?

just to let you know i am breeding several different cichlids...

firstly you should contact your local government agency that issues pet shop licences
as they will tell you how many fish you can sell per year without the need for a licence.
here in the UK it is usually under 500 animals a year, after that you do need a licence.

Pet and Aquarium Trade - Retail
Any pet shop may sell a limited range of defined species of captive-bred native wildlife, without need for a special licence or record keeping.
The wildlife dealer or pet shop(you) is required to advise the purchaser of wildlife whether a private wildlife licence is required to keep the animals and also provide printed information (as approved by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment) that outlines "the requirements for the proper feeding, care, housing and welfare of the species".
