lol YEAH. No, when I was boiling the small part I could fit into the pot, it WAS turning the water black. That was the 4th time I boiled. Each time I did it for about 15 min, and then changed the water. So....I think it has plenty left unfortunatley.

While were here, anyone have any suggestions for a few bottom dwellers for my tank? It's a 55gal and I have 6 congo tetras, a large blue gourami, a GT/Blue acara, and 4 albino tiger barbs. I'm thinking an oddball type. a peaceful eel or a ropefish...something cool.
I believe the ropefish and most freshwater eels are predatory and would hunt smaller fish. I am not sure how large congo tetras get, but I am pretty sure they stay rather small. Most freshwater eels and the ropefish can grow to over 25 inches so they may eat your congo tetras along with your tiger barbs if they are small still.

What about khuli loaches? You could get a few of them. Like 6. :dunno:

Well the ropefish are supposed to be peaceful. The congos and barbs are pretty big, much bigger then a ropefish's mouth, or head for that matter, so i would assume he would be ok...any other suggestions?

Ropefish are peaceful, but that won't stop them from eating smaller fish. It is just natural to them. If the fish you have now are bigger than the ropefish's mouth I'd say it would be okay, but I am not 100% sure on that as I have never owned a ropefish. What about bumblebee catfish? I have one and I love him. :p

I just got my driftwood today and it floats. How did you get yours to sink? :dunno:

I was thinking about it...and do you think I need to declorinate the water the wood is soaking in? That would take a LOT of declorinator...do oyu think I should be worried about it?

I'm no scientist but I don't think chemicals in the water that soak into your wood will be in large enough quantities to effect anything.

Update:

Well, it's been a few days, and so far no change. I've been putting new water in the tubs every 5-10 hours. The color is usually the same, not getting any lighter.
I'm open for any suggestions, please!
