Hello. I've had my betta apollo for about 2 months. I was cleaning his tank tonight and he slipped out and into the sink. My mother and I eventually got him safely into the newly cleaned water, but unfortunatly part of his tail was lost in our efforts to pick him up. :'[ Will this be fatal or will he be okay? Thank you for your imput in advance.

It probably won't be fatal, and he will most likely survive. Do you have any aquarium salt you can add to his water? That will help him heal.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU ADD REGULAR SALT please. :)

Do you buy aquarium salt from the lfs?

Yup. It comes in largish containers & you put about a tablespoon in 10 US gallons. I use it just to make sure my Betta doesn't get infected, plus, it comes in handy if he gets fin rot or anything..

Right now I have my betta in a approx. 10 inch high vase which he seems to like, he's very energetic usually (he came in a teeny bowl, so maybe he's just happy to be out of that). But what amount of aquarium salt would I use for that? do you know?

How many gallons is it?

I'm not sure. I'm new at the fish thing. I didn't know there were even certain sizes that would keep a betta happier than others. But I would estimate that it's probably 6 inches wide. It's small, I know, but I don't have the money for a larger one, and this one was free.

i dunno, am guessin maybe a gallon or 1.5 gallons? thats a minimum for a betta really.

Dunno, maybe quarter of a teaspoon of aquarium salt then

not to sure though
