I do hope so :(

Can I turn it off?
Im starting to think an empty tank is better lol

couldnt take anymore
had to unplug it
omggggg

ok so here is what I do.......

Im in same situation, I have 2 air pumps, one each side of tank (looks pretty cool) I leave the quiet one on 24/7 and turn noisy one off when I go bed, but in mean time, I wrap it in the biggest, thickest jumper my mum ever bought me, plus a load of other clothes and bury it in my wardrobe (next to tank) lol its the only thing I could think of

thanks but? the bubbles still make an annoying noise?
and omg im so gonna give this up and come back to it in a few monhts lool

If you have turned of your filter then your fish will die, however i doubt you are trying particularly hard to sleep considering your computer is on and you seem to be paying quite alot of attenion to the posts on here.

I dont like the sound of you... Ive had no sleep for 2 days (tank been set up 2 days) so obivously there are no fish at present. Im paying attention to posts on here because im trying to find good tips whilst someone helps me to sleep
Germ please stop posting because you are just doing it for the post ratings? are you that pathetic?

Im on here for help not to be patronised by you

It sounds as if you are doing a fishless cycle and the air pump is for extra aeration. If that is the case, you could turn it off at night. Just make sure you turn it on again the next morning. When the tank is finished cycling, you can remove the air pump as it isn't a necessity.

Now if the UGF is making noise, then that's a problem as you cant turn it off. Since you are doing a fishless cycle and just getting started, I would strongly suggest buying a hang on back or external filter. They offer much better filtration and are much easier to keep clean and operating properly

Get a new filter. You can't have a very good tank with an UGF anyway, so there, minimize noise. Maybe buy a Whisper and turn the flow down at night.
