Hello there.

I have a little friend about 4 to 6 inches long. The problem is that I have nooo idea of it's little name or origin.

Could one of you specialist help me identify my friend?

On the pictures you will notice that his body is a lighter color from the belly up. This is like this in permanence.

Thank you!

**I'd like to attache a picture, but have no idea how!!!?? Someone could clear this out for me please?**

hello mate

we;re going to need that pic, a lot of them have a lighter underside. any other description

to host a pic I;d save it to photobucket first then cut the direct link then click on picture sybol above the reply box( its a green rectangle two down from the smilie synbol. when the pop up shows up delete the blue highlighted part then paste your direct link from phptobucket the press insert image andbobs youruncle!

Thanks,

I Put some fish pics in the bucket!

Agreed with dave, sp redfin or, fire and ice, im thinking more fire and ice...

does it ever have red patches round the eyes like its litterally crying blood?

hopefully gasmask will see this thread, i know he has some fire and ice, so chime in anytime gasmask

oh yes i forgot how are you keeping this guy, heating wise, sub tropical is by far the best meaning no heating, also make sure you tank has been channa proofed

basically and possible escape holes, even if you think they wont escape, they will :good:

the more planted the better and try to keep waterchanges to a minimul, snakeheads seem to survive better with less frequent waterchanges, <providing water is quality and tests correctly

fire and ice have more red around the eye nelly and more blue in the dorsal and anal fins i believe. there is next to no information on sp red fin but id treat very similar to fire and ice.

100% Channa sp.Redfin.

I have a pair. They max out at around 8".
Can be quite aggressive, like to go for stomachs.

Mine seem to thrive at 22c, ph 6.4

Great Channa, I love mine.

haha one up!!!

Ive never even seen a fire n ice or a redfin, lol will that count

we dont get things like that here, thats why im annoyed i sold my parachanna obscura as never see one round here like that

Thanks all.

Like dave_oddballs said, I found none info on him. He is not agressive with his tank mates. He goes off from time to time with the oscar, but they seem to be great friends.

About the escaping, well I learned about it pretty quick! The fisrt night mister jumped out. A hell of a chance I was passing by and heard knoking on the floor. Put him back in, and blocked the 2 SMALL holes from wich he escaped.

The temperature is between 21 and 22 degres. No heating.

He will eat anything. From pellets (any kind), to shrimp, to live fish, to bugs, to frozen fish, to squid...etc

He has red right in front of the eyes.

His gills have a blue tint.

Somthing I found really cool to see, is when my Crappie was rulling the place (I got rid of him). Well the snakehead ''puffed-up'' his throte. And the sking there is a kind of electric blue. That was cool to see.

channa will puff out their throat as a warning, or when showing off. most channas will eat anything, just make sure you vary its diet, which it sounds like you do, if you can try and get it onto a decent pellet food, it will give him much more nutrition than most frozen/fresh meaty foods

Nice channa! looks a bit skinny though.. if you don't mind me asking what did these set you back?

Soon to become a very colorful Oscar snack!
Seperate them asap!

Don't be nervous about Oscar and Red fin. Red fin is about as long as Oscar. He even shoped a bit of his tail off a couple of days ago because he was bugging him.

To be honest, I'm not scared at all...for the moment.

I don't see why you find him ''slim''? His between 4 and 6 inches long. He cant be 2 inches thick...

always4lora, I don't understand your question..sorry. What set back are you taking about?
