At the moment ive got a fluval 125 liter tank with a fluval 205 external filter, the fish i have got at the moment are 4 White Cloud Mountain Minnow i did have 5 but one went missing then turned up stuck to the filter one morning and 1 fancy goldfish.

My question the tank does have a heater but the water temp is at a constant 23 degrees so i never bother having it on.
I was wondering what kind of other fish could I keep in the tank with regards to temperature.

Is it wise to re home the goldfish and then get some more tropical fish as i know goldfish prefer cooler temps?

Your 125L/33G tank is large enough to handle one goldfish and some WCMMs, such as you have now. The members may know some other coldwater fish or have other stocking considerations that would help you decide on the final stocking if you continued on with your current setup. Its really your own choice.

Its true though that if you were able to find new homes for your current coldwater selections and re-planned the tank as a tropical aquarium, you could handle a larger variety of types and colors of fish. The bacteria that will have populated your biofilter for the coldwater fish are the same as you will need for the tropicals, so you'll be able to continue using your filter as is.

Thanks for your input i would rather go down the tropical route but as everything i rushed it :/ , the tank has been set up for a month doing the test and water changes etc.

I will be going on holiday in two weeks time so i will decided on a proper course of action when i get get back, but any ideas are welcome the temperature in the tank wont be dropping below 23 so any ideas of fish at this temp would be great or some tropical ideas

If you switch to tropical temperatures, a 33G can house a wide variety of community ideas. It will be important for you to be looking at and reading about various tropical fish on the internet and putting together some trial ideas of fish that you like. Only then will the members have enough of something to "push against" and help you. Its not ideal to have members suggest your stocking right from the beginning as it might not ultimately suit your taste and will feel worse to you if someone else suggested it.

Doing stocking plans is a matter of lots and lots of trial and error. They get better and better if you spend lots of time and change plans frequently. You are in a great situation to do that while you are planning and going on vacation and while you are seeking new homes for your current coldwater fish.. all those things will take time. Meanwhile you can also read the threads and do searches here on TFF to help you in your planning.

WD has given some fantastic advice :good:

Planning is the key, research the fish you want, even ask us questions.

12ltrs can home a fair few fish, dwarf cichlids are a good combo. Have a think and let us know what fish you like.
