Hello

I recently purchased a 5x2x2 Wave Aquarium and will begin a fishless cycle this week.

My problem is with an internal juwel filter.(16inches by 6 inches by 8 inches).

1. Can the filter be completely submerged.
2.If part of the filter needs to be out of water how can future maintenance be performed. The tank has a 2 inch glass framework running round the inside at the top and the filter will be right up against the framework.

The Filter will be siliconed to the glass.

I will also be running an external filter. Im awaiting the arrival of a tetratec EX1200. I dont think either filter on its own would provide enough filtration.

Thanks in anticipation

Patrick.

MODS if this should be somewhere else feel free to move

Welcome to the forum Patrick.
I might be able to help a bit with the Tetratec but am clueless on the Juwel. The equipment questions usually fare better in the Hardware and DIY section but I see plenty of them get an answer right here.

it can be fully submerged but you will need to seal the top part...the bit which covers the sponges

OK

Thank you for replies guys

By the way Oldman what do you think of the Tetratec EX1200. The external filter that came with the tank was a Genio 2. But noise was really bad and could find no info on it. So I went for tetratec.

Im kinda paranoid about the filtration as I will hopefully be keeping 10-12 5 inch discus in this tank

Regards

Patrick

I have seen nothing but positive comments on the Tetratech filter. It looks identical in outer and inner appearance to my Marineland C series and I suspect the only difference is the company selling it and the motor voltage. Here we use 110 volts in electrical sockets and in the UK it is 220 volts.
