ok, tank filled and i am now testing the water, will post results.

Ok, here are the results, i took the water down until the fish were just about covered and laying on their sides.

Temp-Fan Cooled at 19.5C and rising.
P/H-7.5/8.0
Ammonia-0.1ppm
Nitrite-0.1ppm
Nitrate-50ppm

ok all, i'm off to camp so i bid you all a good weekend.

Hiya, I know you sent me a PM, sorry I took ages to read your results. Well done on the water change front. As soon as you're back from camp this weekend do another one and re-test. Don't lift the fish out of the tank to clean his fins, it'll be very stressful and I highly doubt it will help. Sounds like he's just got a bit of mucus hyper-production, which is usually down to poor water quality. So definately keep up those daily water changes.

ok, strange things happening here. Came back from camp and tank water was cloudy so i changed it and it was fine until i put the treatment in. i did this twice before i realised it was the treatment making it cloudy so i gave up wasting medication and sat down to wwatch them when i noticed that...
MY BOY IS BETTER!!!!
And not only that, my baby goldie has stopped looking like a pinecone along one side (i think this was dropsy). She started to get better after i put some anti fungal and finrot in the tank, after that ran it course she looked a bit better but was still flagging. After i put the anti slime and velvet in she perked up almost immediately and within a day her scales were flat once again.
Finally, things are getting back under control!
Oh and i cant do any more water tests as i have run out of test tablets, the api master test kit is arriving soon as well as a new gravel vac!

Came home just now to find the poor things gasping at the surface for air, looked at the temp and it was 28C airators had failed as well, trying to find new fuses for the 2 of them. have their fan running with the lid off on full power at 6547rpm (approx 8500 l/h) and also have a huge fan blowing at the tank walls and into the lid to cool it further. Constant battle here.

Indoor temp is 30.5C

i have found new fuses and they are running full pelt, temp has declined to just over 25 C. Seems that at the present i am winning this battle.

That's good news. If you run into a similar situation, you can put some ice cubes in a plastic bag and float that in the tank and monitoring the temp closely.

Glad you're ahead of the heat monster for now!

oh dear, i seem to have blown the fuse. Running at 6500 rpm might not be all to bnificial after all, have replaced fuse now and decreased revs to 5472rpm.
