hi, I have a female platy with red and clear bubbles coming out of her. She is in a 33 gallon tank with a few other livebreares. Is this a problem to worry about? or is she sick? thanks

Sounds to me she is giving birth. Those clear bubbles are undeveloped fry. My molly had the same problem. Due to stress and other factors when they give birth sometimes they miscarry. My molly probably dropped 10 undeveloped eggs and then fry started dropping afterwards. Some fry might come out deformed as well. If you want to save the fry carefully move her to a seperate tank or birthing net because your other fish will eat the fry. good luck!

yeah thanks, are you sure though because she has been like this for a day?

Clear bubbles with a tiny bit of color at one end are almost always immature fry. Although we cannot be certain from your description, chances are good that you are seeing a premature drop of fry. It is not the end of the world but does indeed indicate a need to let your female settle in to her environment. If all was perfect in her world, she would not be dropping premature fry.
Once your female is comfortable in her new world, she will await full term conditions before dropping any more fry. It is the simple nature of female livebearers that they will await the proper moment to drop their fry unless you encourage them not to await it in one fashion or another. I try my best not to present them with that choice since I want only the best, most mature, of their fry in my tanks.

if she isn't really used to her enviornment, but your not doing anything to make her that way, turn off the lights. it reduces stress ALOT, and babies may be harder to find from other fish.
