Help! I have a 24 gallon salt water tank with a maroon clown fish and a purple tang. I went on vacation and I bought an automatic feeder for the trip. I put it on the absolute minimum setting but it dumped way too much food. When I got home the fish were acting weird so I got out as much food out as I could and did a large water change. The fish had some white spots which I though might be ich (not totally sure) so I put some medication in the water just to be safe. That has all cleared up and the tang is behaving normally but the maroon clown can't seem to "float" in the water. He just sits at the top right side up and occasionally sideways. The very top point of his back is starting to get sore and I'm hoping there is something I can do to fix the problem. This is the best fish I've ever had and I don't want to lose him. Any help anyone could give would be very very appreciated.

Get going with a bacterial med fast the fish has bloat, is the red on the back a patch.

Thanks. I put some meds in this morning. I also bought some medicated food but the fish doesn't like it. He spits it back out. I hope this works. *crosses fingers*

Ok use the bacterial meds, but not the medicated food as you can overdose.
Good luck.

I am wondering if I should set up a hospital tank for him. He is improving, he's more active and he's eating good but he is still having a hard time getting off the top. Unfortunately the pump in my tank doesn't have an adjustable flow so I have no way to make it easier on him. Or is it better to just let him fight it out and not stress him out by moving tanks?

If he's struggling in the water due to the high flow of the pump it will just stress him and wear him out.
I would issolate him to be honest.
