Hey I would say a motaguense, dovii and peacock would def keep him very happy. Just remmember that these fish can out grow this tank size but you will have a good amout of time to trade up

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I need to do some research on large new world cichlids before I suggest one to him, and I won't make a suggestion unless its a fish that will be comfortable for its whole life in an aquarium the size of the one he will get.
