I just recently purchased a vase and a "bubble" bowl for my office. In the bubble, I have had a betta for a little over two weeks. In the vase, I've had a betta for just a few days. The problem is, my office @ work is pretty cold. I checked the water temperature on one of the bowls, and it registers between 64 and 68 degrees, which I know is too cold. Are there really any ways I can warm the water temperature up any?

how big is the vase? u can always buy a 6 in submersible heater...i think that would doo ok(just set it 2 80 or so

You could easily get a heat cord. You could set it up so that it's wrapped around the base of both the bowl and the vase and see what the water temp rises to, it should be just enough. :)

The only problem is that my bubble is on the wall and the vase is on top of a filing cabinet - neither where I can have anything that uses electricity. Are there any heaters that don't need to be plugged into an electrical outlet? If so, where do I buy them?

Thanks!

really, you're going to need proper aquatic heaters for those bowls to keep the fish at a regular non-fluctuating temperature, but none will really fit in that style of container (which is why they're generally not recommended for fishkeeping anyway).
as one is wall mounted, that rules out reptile heat mats also.
is the one thats wall mounted on an internal or external walls? external walls are usually cold anyway, so being up against it is going to have effects on the fish.

i would personally go out and get two 3-4 gallon acrylic tanks ($5-$15 each) and a 25w heater for each (make sure the heating element does NOT touch the sides) and put them somewhere near a plug socket so they can be warm and toasty.

I just bought a 2.5 gallon from walmart, it cost like $25. A little much I know, but I went to another store and they had the same thing for $50...lol But the one I bought came with food, water conditioner, and a sponge filter. A day or so later I went back to walmart and spent $7 on a junior heater. It works great.

Why do people have to revive 2 year old threads?

I didn't notice that..lol My apologizies. I thought it was just posted.
