hey people, ok basically my mum told me that one of my 5neons had died so i went to have a lookand i saw a little fish dart behind 1 of the plants, followed by a smaller 1. wow, my platy had babies! we thought that the mother of the babies was ill as she was v. fat and wasnt moving. but we now know why....anyhu, iv noticed that more babies hav arrived (theyre only about 6 mm big) and since then the mmother (sparky) looks like she has dropsy...her scales are sticking out a bit, is this normal after having fry

No, once the scales stick out that the last stage of dropsy organ failure, can you issolate her, sorry.

Sometimes fish can get a slight case of dropsy from being pregnant. When did this happen? After she gave birth? What are your water stats? Any information would be helpful in figuring out what's wrong.

well it started yesterday
my ph is 8.6, my amonia and nitrite levels are fine. (i did a test) i dont know really, could the birth make her ill? she's been eating fine so.....im not really sure. do you know how long she has left?

shes moving around fine and shes actig fine, is it cureable

i have also noticed that she is opening and closing her moust very quickly, could she be gasping>???

hey guys, some sad news, my fish with dropsy died 2day im not too upset thought, she had babies so i can remember her by them...
