I purchasd a 55 gallon aquarium and i had a few fish in mind to put in my tank..... two 6inch rope fish, one 3 and a half inch candy stripe pleco, one 3 inch african butterfly fish, one 3 inch three-spot gourami, one 3 inch opaline gourami....... can you suggest any fish that will go in this tank?????(need some bottom feeders)

So the ones that you listed are already in your tank or are those the ones you are thinking about getting but unsure of?

Well, I really have no information on the rope fish (how big it gets, temperment and natural habitat ect) but I do know about the other fish.
Does your tank have florescent light? And is it cycled?

Rope fish can get to 16 inches I believe. They would do good in anything above a 40 gallon, but they might munch on smaller fish as they get larger. If you wanted the rope fish, I would suggest some bigger fish. Maybe make it a nice cichlid tank? Rope fish do well with them. :D

Well then, with what other people said about rope fish, do you really want them? I think they would look very cool but I don't think you could keep any groumis or butterfly fish.
You might also have an issue with algea since you have fake plants (not necessarily though). Seem like you might be stuck with deciding between smaller community fish or cichlids and rope fish.

The majority of my tanks are smaller community fish but I do have 3 tanks with larger fish in it (2 cichlids tanks and one gold fish tanks). The plus side with bigger fish (cichlids) is that they are very interesting and have peculiar antics-but require more maintenance with water changes. The plus side with smaller fish is that you can add more fish to the tank than with larger fish-but some say they are not as cool as the big fish.

I would personally go with the small fish community tank but you do have a larg enough tank to house cichlids comfortably.
Do you like african cichlids?

I just got firemouths for my 55 gallon about a week ago and they are really cool especially when they chase each other around the tank a few times. :) I also have a pearl gourami in with them temporarily and they seem to be doing fine for now.
