Help Its A Shark !

While debating various stocklists i was in a local LFS and saw a red tailed black shark and thought it looked amazing only snag is many sites/forums ive looked at are filled with horror storys about the black shark pretty much terrorising/Eating the rest of the tank.

Obviously things like tetras and rasborra are begging to become chowder but are there any fish that can live with it without being chomped in a community tank?

there are alot of stories about these and they are all true but before i even got into fish my dad has had a tank a long time and he has a RTB in his tank with all his community fish and has never had a problem. its not right and its prob rare

It depends on the kind of tetra/rasbora eg. Buenos aries tetra would be safe, neons maybe not.

RTBS are territorial and can be aggressive, depends on your tank size and other fish as to whether they would work in your set up. Another possibility could be a 'ruby shark', much the same as a RTBS but all fins are red and they are less territorial (though still not entirely peaceful) and would have a better chance of working.

I have a Red Tailed Shark in our tank and he is absolutely fine with all our fish.

He is quite big and chunky now and we have have him around 18months. We had Neon Tetra before we added him and as i say he has been fine.

He is in a tank with
Neons, Rummy Nose, Cory, Colombian Tetra, Clown Loach, Bala Sharks( although i may be re homing the B Saraks and Clown Loach due to size).

I had a large RTBS in my tank, had him since he was a baby, after he got to a large size he started to get aggressive, and chased everything around the tank, i ended up taking it back to the LFS. Depends what personality you get i guess.

Epalzeorhynchos bicolor are not that aggressive, its usually due to incorrect tankmates,ive now kept two fully mature redtails over my time and never had any issues with either,when i started out i had four in a tank and that was trouble,but my fault..
Alot of people mistake reading up on internet,often clicking on "Labeo chrysophekadion" now these get more aggressive with age,often becoming to aggressive as they mature,again they need correctly choosen tank mates, however there maximum size limits home keeping for most...
The less agressive of the three according to most forums and myself are "Epalzeorhynchos frenatum" the better choice for small community aqauriums,as in smaller fish communitys

These are 2 stocking ideas ive had 1 with Mr Shark 1 without.

Any glaring holes ive missed or suggestions of swapouts etc ? Aqaudvisor threw up no conflicts but im aware its not perfect.
