Help Id This Fish Please

I was sold 3 of these as keyhole cichlids, but I cannot find any pics of young keyholes to compare with so I hope some of you can help me out. The tank at the store was marked for both green terrors and keyholes.

Pic's a bit blurry but it looks like a green terror (or maybe a blue acara, but if you say the tank was marked green terror then its more likely that). It doesnt look anything like the baby keyholes I've seen at my lfs..

Yeah I was skeptical when I saw them at the store, but in the tank there they were very light colored so i thought they might be keyholes. But I got them home to my tank and they got all these blue colors and orange fins so I was a little angry. I really cannot find any pics of a juvenile keyhole though. Anyone have one to share?

I agree with Idlefingers, doesn't look like a Keyhole Cichlid to me. Ours were only about 1.5" when we brought them and they were very plain in colour, didn't look like your photo at all.

Juv. Keyholes look like small adults. Simple as that. Just brown and black with slightly whitish edges to the pectoral fins if kept in good conditions. That pic isn't a keyhole.

Id say that is a gt since you mention the orange on the fins. But if you can a less blurry picture where you can see the gill plate and jaw then thats a better indication of whether its a gt or acara

I am taking the fish back today since I don't have a tank for a GT, let alone 3 hehe. I am a little worried because the receipt they gave me says "All Sales Final" but they better take it back. It was one of their own staff member's error. Then I will head over to a more specialized LFS to get some REAL keyholes.

That is an awesome picture stang, I did not know that keyholes could get those dark tails. Looks very pretty.

I dont think I can get a better pic of the gill plate ox, but can you tell me what the main differences are between the GT and acara? Im just curious.

Well like I said, the orange on the fin is for the gt as I believe acaras don't have this. On the gill plate/jaw line, gts have green streaks as I believe acaras are more a blue color. Also, i think acaras are a bit more squat than gts
