Today is water change day!

I did my change, and tested the water - all is fine. But my blur dwarf gourami is illlllll! I have no idea why, all the other fish are fine. He is lying on the bottom and keeps rolling onto his side! I gave them some food just now and he is trying to eat, but keeps rolling over to his side.

No signs of illness, but maybe a black line down the edge of his fin....could this be fin rot? It does not look rotten, and the others are ok!

is it only since you changed the water? did you move the fish while changing the water? do you have the water stats? did you use dechlorinater?

ps - fantastic photos!

He was acting strange before the water change, but the water was fine then too! as i do weekly 10% water changes, so little time for things to go wrong!

Any idea what i can do for the fish, or what could possibly be wrong?

I do not use salt, didnt move the fish, and done nothing different from before :(

How many gallons or litres is the tank.
How many fish and which type.
What the make of the test kit you are using.
What do you feed the fish?

Does he look bloated.
Are scales sticking out.
Any red streaking, red patches, or sores on his body.
Hows the fish breathing.
What does it look like when he goes to the toilet.
Is he pale or darker in colour.
Is he acting listless and lethagic.

Also do you mind posting your water stats please.
Any snails in the tank?

90L Aqua One tank
6 Danios, 2 guppys, 2 corrys, 3 glowlights, 1 powder blue Dwarf gourami (the ill one)
I feed blood worms, and various flakes
I only feed once every couple days to save over feeding
He normally has a red strip down edge of his fins, but no other makins i can see just now
he is very lethagic! He has been sitting on the bottom of the tank leaning against one of the rocks!
When i looked, he seemed to be panting (if fish can do that!)
No snails
results from API kit - PH at about 7.5 (normal), Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, nitrate 5 - all of which are normal!
All fish are fine other than him :(

Does he look bloated?

It sounds like he might have a bacterial infection. Does he try to get off the substrate only to fall back down again.

Improve the fish diet with more frozen foods like daphnia, brime shrimp.
Also introduce some green veg into there diet.
Don't over feed bloodworms as they cause bloating.
I would only not feed the fish once a week.
If you feed sparingly the fish should be fine.

Is the red stripe down his fin markings.

I started recently only feeding the fish once a week - if thats what you mean?
He does not look bloated. When i fed blood worm yesterday, it was only a tiny amount!

Do you think i need to do anything for him, or just keep the water quality good?

Had him for a fair few months now

Feeding the fish only once a week is not good.
I meant I would only not feed the fish once a week.
So I would only miss one day of the week not feeding.

Can you isolate him and try a bacterial med.
Also feed the fish they must be hungry.

Well, its a theory i was told, but to be honest, i cant not feed them :p i do still feed them, but have missed a day every now and again :) So dont worry, although i say i aint fed them in a week, it is more a ' i know was supposedly not going to feed them for a week'.

They were fed blood worms yesterday, and today some Tetra Pro flakes

Well, he keeps getting bursts of energy, so maybe he will be ok.... i am worried about moving him to a QT due to stress?

He dosn't sound right to me if he resting alot, rolling on his side is not normal behavour, being sluggish.
He could have a bacterial infection.

Also feed some shelled peas.
Cook frozen garden peas for a few minutes in boiling water. Let cool down, and pop out of shell.
Chop into small pieces and add to the tank.

Maybe a bigger water change would help, 10% a week isn`t really enough imho and a larger wc can make a lot of difference to a poorly fish sometimes.
