Hey fishfishfish,

Can you post us a picture? Maybe best to do so in the emergency or catfish sections, then someone can help you id the fish and have a better chance of telling you what's wrong with it.

Some types of stress coat (like revitaliser tonic) are basically a salt mix and the pet store adding that probably didn't help - especially when you then added some salt at home. Best to take him out of the tank in the meantime and quarantine him again (in some salt free water!) until someone can help you.

Post the pic as soon as you can.

Good luck,
Ami

oh so its a schoutedeni synodontis? ill try to find a picture to make sure

At 5 3/4" maximum size, it too will be too small for a 15 gallon.

Hi fella - we don't know if he's in the 15g yet, do we?

Could be the 40g.

I never said it was. From the other obvious failures here (lack of research before buying the fish, adding salt to a scaleless species) it was worth noting which of the tanks it would be suitable for.

The fish might not be at the maximum size yet? Its the only syno i can think of with those markings.
The advice: you need to research the fish more, sorry but this fish has been known to never acctually settle into aquariums. A fish do avoid in my opinion.

Apologies Fella - must have mis-heard (read?) the tone of your post.
:*)

In general reply to everyone:
Fishfishfish is clearly in a bit of a panic, needs our help at the moment, and hasn't yet had a chance to respond to the other 2 enquiries about which tank the fish is in. Might be better for us all to hang fire until a positive ID (along with confirmation of the size of the fish and the tank it's in) before adding any more comments or advice.

Any luck on the picture PinkDolphin or Fishfishfish?

Ami

You sure he's not this guy? This is the fish commony traded as "lace cat" from I can tell.

If it is the first guy, Im not sure he'll go great with your pair of petricola, from what I can gather Schoutedeni are a bit quarrelsome. Hopefully someone with some experience will be here to let you know. I'm also considering a Syno Schoutedini for my cichlid tank, so it'll be interesting to see what the experts say.

im sure its the first 1.i dont have my petri though yet.i am in the middle of getting them sent to me

and fella what do you feed your gobies.i just bought 2 and have fed them frozen bloodworms.
