Help! ... Have I Messed Up Again?

Since i have been waiting for my new aquarium to arrive i have bought various bits & bobs without doing any research.

First i realised the rear panel was a mirror, & i had to find a way of making my background pic waterproof (sorted, i bought 2 acrylic sheets & sealed my pic in)

Secondly .... i bought a few kgs of red jasper rock ... i didnt realise how heavy this rock is, im struggling to break it up lol

Im hoping i dont have a third hitch ... as i have payed 50 quid for white sand & i have recently read that sand isnt suitable with an undergravel filter.

I would imagine its not an undergravel filter as its got electric controls and you cant really power an under gravel filter electronically - but no I reckon it will be internals on those sides.

Have to admit not a fan of those tanks just because of how limiting they are with choice of fish.

Thanks for that wills .... i know im limited, i just thought it would be the best way to start as i am a novice, & these tanks require very minimal maintenance.

If anything i think this tank will be harder to maintain. Its alot harder to clean and stock plus you could get a bigger standard rectangle tank for that money which would mean theres more water volume to keep the water quality stable.

One thing I would like to ask seeing as the website says 'requires less than 15 minutes per month'.........how are you supposed to do regular water changes??

Yeah to be honest those 15 mins per months things are just rubbish. The reason you do water changes and maintenance is to lower the nitrate level and get out the poo that accumulates on the bottom - which is something that will drive you mad on white sand believe me! Also again with sand you need to stir the sand up every few days otherwise it "goes off" which means it goes black which basically rots the sand and builds up all kinds of nasties like bacteria and gas pockets form and if the gas pockets are left for too long they burst and poison the fish.....

If you have not bought this tank I would strongly advise against it just because of the cost of the thing there are better tanks for you to start the hobby with that will require the same level of care and you wont be limited to stuff like micro rasbora.

But if you really want this tank because its mounted up on the wall, and believe me I can see the appeal though limited stock it is possible to do a really stunning tank like this. But the other thing you need to know is you need to do water changes every week maybe every 2 weeks because of the small fish you will be keeping but certainly not monthly but the water changes will take about 10 mins or less in that kind of capacity.

Ive bought the tank because it looks stunning. If i had room i would have considered a normal tank.
Im not really fussed about the species of fish aslong as i can get tetras.

Anymore thumbs up for sand being compatable with my tank?

Won't be an undergravel filter but why youve spent so much on sand i'll never know, i buy it at 2 bags for £5 and it more than covers my 2 foot.
Assuming your having fake plants and no bogwood all should go well but for me personally it's a little too much keep getting up and down ladders to change water and possibly clean out dead fish but good luck to you, i have to say it's a pain waiting so many weeks for it to mature though, just stay away from buying fish too early on.

When the sand arrived it said theres enough for 20 gallons & as my aquarium is 25 gal, i thought id better buy another.

Good luck? what is wrong with bogwood & real plants?
I do intend buying a few live plants as this is one of the main features of the tank. I have bought driftwood & shells. i had read that boiling these items & leaving submersed in water for a few weeks will be ok ... which is what i have done.

Yeah I have moss balls they are great, they soak up tons of nitrate and just look pretty cool

What type of fish are you thinking of? How much water does this tank hold?
