My parents bought me 6 minnows on the weekend thinking the tank was ready, its planted I used media from maidenhead aquatics
ammonia was at 3ppm when I tested on Sunday, nitrate was at 2 ppm and nitrite 0 ppm, PH 8.0 I was got the fish on Sunday 4 males and 2 female they were fine the day I got them then I noticed a white spot on the females head on Monday it changes colour sometimes its more obvious and other times it blends into her skin, it was there when I got back from school before school the 2 dominant males were chasing her around alot.

Then the next day the most bullied male had it, now I am suspicious could it be columnaris?
it says fish get it when they are stressed the female and the male were both being harassed so could this be?
or maybe the stress of being in a new tank?
that's my diagnosis but I need opinions and diagnosis, treatment FAST since I have to get it tomorrow after-school so I need a reply tonight otherwise I won't be able to see it tomorrow. :(

She and the male are eating fine, swimming fine no redness of the gills, cloudy eyes ect. apart from the spot they are fine also the male developed his in almost the exact same spot as the female on the head at the moment they are all swimming together and there acting normal.

I feel really stupid by posting this, my first fish and they already ill. :(

Is it a spot or patch.
Is the spot or patch yellow in colour.
Any redness to the spot or patch.

Keep preforming water changes.
Increase aeration.

I would also add some salt as it helps the fish in a cycling tank.
Do you only have minnows in the tank.
How many gallons is the tank?

Theres no redness around it, its sometimes yellow and sometimes white and sometimes not noticable atall :S
the minnows are the only fish in the tank, its 60 litres.
its about 50% planted if it helps atall with cycling.....
She is acting normal, is there any suggestions as to what treatment I should give her since she diden't have that on sunday....the spot same for the other male.

EDIT- yes its a spot.

Ok.
Just add some myxazin by waterlife to the tank.

Get a jug of tank water and add two tablespoons of salt to the jug. Stir till it dissolves. Then add to the tank.
Tonic salt, or household salt.

I had a guppy once with a white, yellow spot, but it had a red centre.
It was a columnaris spot.

Spots that present themselves on the head region are mostly columnaris spots.
Just make sure there no signs of flicking and rubbing.

You can use tonic salt, aquarium salt, household salt in small doses.

That's fine.
Hows the fishies doing?

umm there still there, also when I went to get the medication I looked at the other minnows they had (maidenhead aqautics) and every single one of them had the same patch as my ones in the exact same spot. :/

Did you say anything to the lfs?
Did there patches have any redness or pinkness to them.

No since they woulden't care, afew weeks ok there fish were amazingly healthy, vibrant and suddenly theres loads of sick, dead fish in every tank one emperor tetra had pinkish bubbles comeing out all over its body and a swordtail was eating 2 dead gourami some black neons had white mouldy stuff all over there bodies I don't know whats happened there, I hope they sort it out soon.

umm no they had no redness or anything to them.

Poor things.

They shouldn't be selling fish from sick tanks.

One of the golden males died :(
he didn't have the spot but today he wasn't swimming right
I tested the water and ammonia was at 1 ppm and I used a good tester last night the nitrite and nitrate were good I just can't remember the exact numbers, I don't think it was my tank that killed it since my parents bought the fish diseased though it could have been.
the 2 golden ones have/had black ich and today the male had his mouth gaping and cottony stuff coming out and it was all red.
the golden female and the other 4 are all doing great the spots look like there disappearing I just hope they are all ok.
they eat well with daily amounts of flake, bloodworm crushed up cricket and crane fly eggs, quite a varied die but they relish it!
especially the crickets I feed my bearded dragon if I crush them up in the water (not all in one go) they love to eat the bits that fall off sometimes I hold it by the tweezers and they come and peck at it, bare in mind the crickets already dead.....

I did a huge water change last night added more substrate and moved everything around the minnows love playing in the current, I'm still sad about spikes death he was so healthy this past week excluding the black ich which I was hoping to medicate soon but my parents won't take me anywhere, I'm almost certain that couldn't have caused its gaping mouth and cottony stuff coming out though :(

Bad water quality can soon finish fish off.

Are you still treating?

Do you have any snails in the tank?
Were the fish bought from a tank with snails in them.

Black spot on fish can be caused by snails.

Umm they had it since they were in the bag, I noticed it when I got home I should have looked more closely in the shop but they were to high up. No the tanks had no snails in them, though theres one snail in my tank that came with the plants it looks like a baby sulawesi rabbit snail.
