Help - Fin Rot Or Something Else?

You can report them to animal welfare or get in touch with the council if you suspect they are selling sick fish onto the public.
They can have there license removed.

Well, I'm certainly going to do that with the fish shop near me. As well as the sickly torpedos there were at least 5 tanks with dead fish in them.

Sadly most lfs have tanks with dead fish.
There are some good lfs. It's just takes abit of time to find them. I was lucky I found one straight away.

You might need to prove they are selling sick fish though.

Actually they had yellow tangs as well that were just skeletons. I didn't realise they weren't supposed to look like that until I looked them up.

I think I'll have a go!!

Poor things.I think I would have ago too.
Let me know how you get on if you don't mind.
Take some pics with your mobile phone.

Thanks.
Good Luck.

I popped into that fish shop as I managed to finish work early. I took some pics. Most of the torpedo barbs have gone (died?) just 3 left. It was not so easy to take a decent picture on the phone but you can see the body shape. The third pic is what the body shape should be (which even my sick fish had). Also there wasn't a single yelloe tang - hmmmmm sold them all in a few days (about 25).........I doubt it!

And this is what they should look like body shape wise:

There a huge difference.

Poor things.
Did you say anything to the lfs.

I can't see the sunken bellys in the pic.
But there colour are bad. They might be stressed and need feeding up.

I'm thinking of putting my little man into the big tank to be with his chums as I think the small tank must be stressing him out. His tail stump looks fine, no redness or white fluff, as you can see by the pics he has coloured right up again. He should be ok now shouldn't he - I mean clear of anything he could pass on? It's been 2 weeks since I got him.

His colours are good.

Keep a close eye on him.
Match ph and temp.

If his tail doesn't regrow - he will just be my special needs fish

Bless him.
As long as he not struggling to swim he sounds fine.
