Help - Fin Rot Or Something Else?

Well I started Myxazin last night, second dose tonight. His tail stump was actually looking less pink before I started treatment but I decided to go ahead anyway as I know fish can look fine one minute and dead the next. He's clearly stir crazy in the quarantine tank, but he's going to have to stay in there for 4 weeks as I wont risk my main tank. Will I need to run carbon when the course is over?

Hopefully this little guy will be the eception to the rule Wilder!!

Bless him.
Good luck.

The crab thing in the pic is it real.

LOL.
I thought it looked like it was from a cartoon.

Bragain buy, ex display at Pets at home - £7.99 for tank, filter, ornament and gravel. It just needed a wash as it was dusty. I keep the filter running in my main tank so it's ready to go. Makes a perfect quarantine tank for emergency use. I do have a 65 litre spear tank too but that has bristlenose babies in at the moment otherwise I'd use that one for these fish as they are active - but needs must as they say.

They make ideal hospital tanks for small fish.
Good Luck.

That's good news.
Does he look much better in himself.

He does, he's a lot livlier though clearly he wiggles more when swimming as he doesn't have a tail. I also think his red stripe is a bit redder too, it had almost disappeared. Just trying not see things that aren't there just because I want him to get better!

He's still got a long way to go. But it sounds more promising. Bless him.

Hi Wilder.

Last day of treatment today. I will do a good 50% water change tomorrow. Do I need to use the carbon filter again?

Out of interest I went to another fish shop today as I was in Canterbury. Again they had torpedo barbs but all had sunken bellies. At least the three I have that are well are very well and nice and plump and eating well. Haven't seen any more that look that good, except this fish shop had some bigger ones in a display tank. I must admit they look very impressive twice the size!!

How does his tail fin look.
Don't want to cut the med to short.

Once treatment up run some new black carbon.

Poor things. Are the lfs treating the sick fish?

It actually looks good, no redness. I'm happy to carry on treatmen especially as he's doing so well and as I've read this med is pretty mild

I asked, but the kid at the shop said there was nothing wrong with them, when I pointed out that they had a differnt body shape because of the sunken bellies than the ones in the display tank he just shrugged his shoulders.

I'm certainly learning where not to buy fish from. All my best fish have come from private sellers who have bred themselves or need to rehome. The only deaths I have had are shop bought fish.

I agree. Buy from breeders with a good reputation.

There something wrong with them if they have sunken in bellys. Some lfs don't deserve to be selling fish. You can report them if there selling sick fish to the public.

How do you do that?
